Clarity sought on housing association’s remit

Should Bústaðir stand for all rental property construction – from cheap student flats to luxury suites – or should its remit be limited?
This is a question for MPs to debate, according to Arbeiðsgevarafelagið (the Employers’ Union), which wants clarity on what types of rental properties the state should provide and operate.
The enquiry comes as the finance ministry is planning to extend the application deadline for VAT refunds on rental property construction.

But this deadline will only be extended by one year, because the government has announced that its new housing package will be implemented next year.
Contractors who build or rebuild rental properties valued at DKK 200,000 or more may apply for a VAT refund. One condition is that the project must consist of at least two places of residence and that at least one of them must be accessible with wheelchair.
