Seven test corona positive for the second time
New positive tests came about as part of routine GP check-ups

The number of quarantined people suddenly doubled on Saturday despite two consecutive days with no new corona cases.

This was due to seven people having tested corona positive for the second time, according to chief medical officer Lars Fodgaard Mølller.

“We don’t know whether these people never fully recovered or whether they were reinfected,” he says. “My guess is that they had not recovered completely and still had some traces of the virus in their body.”

The seven new cases were discovered by coincidence as part of routine check-ups with their GPs, and only one of them displayed corona-like symptoms.

Møller does not regard these new positive tests as an indication that everyone who has tested positive should get tested again. The reason is that none of these seven people appear to have passed on the virus to others, which also reinforces his belief that the course of their disease has simply lasted longer than normal and they have not been reinfected.

“If all the 187 people who have tested COVID-19 positive still carry the virus and can pass it on to others, or if they have been reinfected, this would be reflected in our statistics, which it isn’t.”

He does, however, point out that the World Health Organization has reported that there is currently no evidence to support the initial assumption that people who have recovered from COVID-19 achieve lasting immunity.
