Tunnel work a year ahead of schedule
The final blast in the tunnel between Trongisvágur and Hvalba, Suðuroy, took place yesterday
Work on the Trongisvágur-Hvalba tunnel project started on 27 June last year, with an estimated project duration of two years

When the new tunnel will be taken into use next February, the total project length will be one year shorter than originally planned.

In addition to the 2,524 metre-long tunnel, the project includes the construction of 2.3 kilometres of road in the Niðastabotnur area in Hvalba, along with 900 metres in the Gjánhamar area of Trongisvágur.

The estimated project cost is DKK 272 million.
