The country’s three hospitals will reopen to visitors on Monday.

However, people who have recently arrived from abroad will be required to show a negative test result from a follow-up test taken six days after arrival in the Faroes.

The Hospital Service says that the restrictive measures introduced before Christmas may be reinstated should the Covid situation worsen again.

Hospital visitors are reminded to adhere to the distancing and hygiene guidelines at all times.

One new Covid case

Yesterday’s round of 525 tests yielded one positive outcome, bringing the number of active Covid-19 cases to 22.

The person in question is a Faroese resident, who contracted the virus domestically.

The daily numbers of positive tests over the past week have been as follows: 2, 0, 0, 0,1, 0 and 1.

One person is receiving hospital treatment for Covid-19, and the latest figures show that 58 people are in quarantine.
