Skála skúli wins environmental award

Skála skúli has won this year’s school environmental award, organised by the Teachers’ Association in collaboration with Betri and FNU, the Faroese Nature and Environmental Organisation.
The adjudication committee praised Skála skúli for its outstanding efforts in inspiring pupils to address climate change.
“Skála skúli has worked tirelessly to ensure that all its operations are sustainable. Everything in the school is recycled, and the school’s sustainability practices are extended into the pupils’ homes. The staff have taken the initiative, and the pupils have shown great willingness to adopt these practices,” the committee said at yesterday’s award ceremony.
This is the second annual school environmental award. Last year’s honours went to Eysturskúlin in Tórshavn.
