More localised weather forecasts ahead
A new weather forecasting website and localised weather forecasts on KvF’s TV news programme are planned for the coming months.
The Faroese meteorological station is looking to hire an experienced meteorologist, an IT developer and a development manager as part of its new expansion plan.
”We have some great meteorological technology, but it still cannot provide the accuracy that the many local weather experts around the islands can,” says station manager Bárður A. Niclasen.

”One of our new staff members will be focusing on daily communications with these local weather experts.”
The plan is to have a new website up and running this summer.
“We also aim to introduce localised weather reports as part of KvF’s Dagur & Vika TV news programme sometime this autumn.”
The Faroese meteorological station is administered by Vørn, the Faroese Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre.
