300 foreign workers approved through fast-track system
The fast-track system for workers from outside the EU was introduced in November to help solve the current staff shortage in the country.
The system aimed to make it quicker and easier to process work permits from outside the EU.
With 300 workers from outside the EU having entered the Faroese labour market since November, the fast-track programme appears to be serving its purpose well.

The programme will remain in force as long as the Faroese unemployment rate remains below 3.5 percent.
More than 90 Faroese employers have been pre-approved for hiring through the new system.
Pre-approval requires employers to certify that foreign workers receive a letter of appointment which complies with Faroese law, that their wages comply with Faroese standards and that work conditions are the same as for Faroese workers.
