Fast-track employee system working well

Faroese employers are benefitting from the fast-track programme for workers from outside the EU.

The programme, introduced in November, has made it significantly easier to for workers from outside the EU to come and work in the Faroes.

“Before the programme was introduced, it could take months to process work permits from outside the EU,” says Sólva Dam, of the Directorate of Immigration.

With the new system, there is a maximum processing time limit of ten days for pre-approvals, and the maximum processing time for work permit applications is 30 days.

The fast-track programme will remain in force as long as the Faroese unemployment remains below 3.5 percent.
