Patrol ships conduct drill outside Tórshavn

Many people in the central region were taken slightly aback today when they saw what may have looked like three naval ships in the sea outside Tórshavn.
The reason behind this unusual sight is that Danish, Icelandic and Faroese patrol ships conducted a simulated rescue operation.
The simulation scenario was that Faroese coast guard ship Brimil had taken damage and patrol ships came from abroad to rescue the crew.

Danish naval ship Vædderen, Icelandic patrol ship Thor and Faroese coast guard ship Brimil took part in the drill.
According to the Joint Arctic Command, which organised the activities, this was a routine exercise which is in no way related to the war in Ukraine.
“Thor was bunkering in Tórshavn, and that presented a good opportunity for conducting the drill,” says a Joint Arctic Command spokesman.
