Up to DKK 1bn for National Hospital in next decade

The expansion of Tórshavn’s National Hospital will go ahead as planned, despite a significant budget overrun, says health minister Kaj Leo Holm Johannesen.
He says that once Road and Tunnel Authority Landsverk has completed the revised planning for hospital’s new H-building, which is so far DKK 152 over budget, he will ask Parliament for even more money to ensure that the hospital expansion goes on as planned.

“Expanding the Faroese health system is a never-ending process, and I expect that between DKK 500 million and DKK 1 billion be spent on the national health system over the next decade,” he says.
“I trust that Landsverk’s new management has learned from the company's past mistakes regarding overspending, and that future construction projects will be kept within budget.”
