Føroya Bjór has regained its monopoly in the local beer market after its acquisition of Okkara

Okkara brewery made Føroya Bjór an offer they couldn’t refuse, writes Klaksvík-based newspaper Norðlýsið.
This resulted in Føroya Bjór this week taking over the Velbastaður-based Okkara firm for an undisclosed sum.
Okkara was founded in 2009, but despite a warm reception from Faroese consumers, the company never turned a profit.
”Okkara will continue its operations independently with the same staff and only some minor management changes,” says Føroya Bjór CEO Einar Waag.
