Seven new Covid cases

Seven positive Covid tests were registered yesterday, reports corona.fo.

Two tested positive on arrival from abroad, and two tested positive in follow-up tests, one and four days, respectively, after arrival. The other three were infected domestically and are all linked to known chains of infection.

The daily numbers of positive tests over the past week have been as follows: 14, 8, 20, 23, 12, 11 and 7.

One person is receiving hospital treatment for Covid-19, and 677 people are currently listed as being in quarantine.

According to the latest vaccination figures on corona.fo, updated today, 32,954 people (61.8 percent of the population) have received the first shot of the vaccine, while 24,906 (46.7 percent) have received the second shot.

Update on hospital visits

Having noted some hesitation regarding hospital visits during the current Covid wave, the Hospital Service yesterday wrote the following on its website:

“Fully vaccinated people are welcome to visit patients at the country’s three hospitals. However, vaccinated people returning from abroad are required to wait for the test results taken on the day of arrival before visiting a hospital.”

Visitors are advised to follow the Covid-19 guidelines regarding distancing and hygiene during hospital visits.
