Surplus in next year’s state budget

Next year’s state budget will have a surplus of DKK 65 million, said finance minister Jørgen Niclasen (pictured above) as he presented the 2022 budget proposal today.

The Faroese economy is on a rebound, and state revenues will be DKK 400 million higher than expected.

The government is also seeking to lower its expenses, and no additional taxes are planned for next year.

But the opposition parties say the budget proposal lacks transparency, calling it “creative”.
