Three new Covid cases

Yesterday’s 1,011 Covid tests resulted in three positive cases, reports corona.fo.

All were infected in the Faroes. Two are linked to known chains of infection, and one infection source has not yet been identified.

The daily numbers of positive tests over the past week have been as follows: 13, 21, 17, 10, 22, 7 and 3.

One person is receiving hospital treatment for Covid, and 466 people are listed as being in quarantine.

No further Covid restrictions in the pipeline

Prime Minister Bárður á Steig Nielsen told KvF yesterday that there are currently no plans to introduce new Covid restrictions, despite the high number of active cases.

The Covid situation is under control, according to chief medical officer Lars Fodgaard Møller. However, he adds, recent contact tracing efforts have revealed that very few people are following the recommendation to get tested two days after arriving from abroad.

“This is a problem,” he says. “It is crucial that everyone follows this recommendation.”

According to the latest vaccination figures on corona.fo, updated on Friday, 38,288 people (71.5 percent of the population) have received the first shot of the vaccine, while 36,330 (67.8 percent) have received the second shot.
