New Covid restrictions in Klaksvík and Kambsdalur
Yesterday’s Covid figures have not yet been published but the number is “probably just below” Friday’s 89, says Prime Minister

New Covid restrictions will be introduced in Klaksvík and Kambsdalur where most of the recent Covid cases were registered.

Prime Minister Bárður á Steig Nielsen has just announced the following changes, valid for the coming week:

Teaching at Klaksvík’s Skúlin á Skúlatrøð will continue as normal for forms 1-3, while pupils in forms 4-10 will receive remote teaching.

All teaching at the Miðnám college in Kambsdalur will be undertaken remotely next week.

The government also recommends that social and leisure events in the northern region are postponed one week.

Of the 258 people who tested Covid positive in the past 14 days (yesterday’s figures not included), 81 are in the 10-19 age group, and 33 are in the 0-9 age group.

Eysturoy and Norðoyggjar have been hit hardest in the past two weeks, with 114 positive tests in Eysturoy and 63 in Norðoyggjar.
