Finance minister resigns

“I had been drinking the night before, and the following morning I thoughtlessly took my car to the bakery to get some bread. I was stopped by the police, who asked me to take a breath test. The test came out positive.”

So said Jørgen Niclasen in an interview with news portal vp.fo.

“I made a mistake for which I take full responsibility,” he added. “I have asked the Prime Minister to dismiss me from my ministerial post.”

Prime Minister Bárður á Steig Nielsen will be temporarily taking over the finance minister post while Niclasen’s party, Fólkaflokkurin, discusses the new situation.
