Storm forces schools and daycares to close

As you may have noticed, it may make sense to stay indoors today. 

Most public transport has been cancelled – click here for updates. Up-to-the-minute information may not be available in English, in which case you can read the updates in Faroese here.

Many schools and daycares have closed for the day. These include:

• Klaksvík: All municipal daycare centres, all private daycares and Snjalla Bjalla are closed today, as is the á Skúlatrøð school and the technical school. The city bus service is also down for the day. The City Council offices are closed, but the council is available as usual via phone and email.

• Glasir college in Tórshavn and the Miðnám college in Kambsdalur are closed for the day.

• Tvøroyri and Vestmanna: All schools and daycares are closed for today.

• Fuglafjørður and Kambsdalur: All daycares are closed for the day

• Runavík’s kommunuskúli and Skála skúli are closed for the day.

• Vágur, Suðuroy: Pretty much everything is shut down.

• Velbastaðar skúli is closed.

Other schools and daycares may also be closed. Contact your local school or daycare for further information.
