Young generations boost population growth

The number of young people in the Faroes appears to be on a steady rise.

Statistics Faroe Islands has divided the population into two parts, those aged 40 and below and the 40+ group. The under-40 group is seeing the greatest growth, especially the 20-39 age group.

The Faroes are seeing greater net migration now compared with 2014. The 2009-2013 period was marked by net emigration and a decline in the population.

According to Statistics Faroe Islands estimates, net migration and the population growth in 2018 will be significantly higher than in 2017.
