Public housing projects put on hold

Despite the serious housing shortage across the country, public housing projects have been put on hold.

The government is currently drafting the 2019 budget, and according to finance minister Kristina Háfoss, there will be no new state-funded housing projects while the construction industry is as busy as it is.

She added that as the state cannot meet the housing demand on its own, private operators must do all they can to help solve the problem.
