Work starts on Tvøroyri’s new grove
Tvøroyri’s mayor planted the first of 1,000 trees put into the ground on Monday
The new grove, located above the Sevmýri district of Tvøroyri, is an extension of the one planted by local teacher Thorvald Joensen many years ago.

Tvøroyri is set to become even greener when its new 11,300 square-metre grove is ready.

Work started on Monday when the Forestry Authority planted 1,000 trees in the Sevmýri district, near the football pitch.

Another 1,500 trees will be planted in the coming days.

The types of wood used in this project are mountain ash, poplar and larch.

Once completed, the grove will also feature pathways and open spaces with benches and tables.

Tvøroyri Municipality currently has two other groves, one above the hospital and the other in Trongisvágur, where the first trees were planted in the 1920s.
