Poor weather has hindered the search for 29-year-old Lukas Gössnitzer, who disappeared in Fugloy in January and who is now presumed dead.

Police have now announced that as soon as the weather improves, the search will continue. The was temporarily stopped on 15 January, and since then the weather has not allowed for further search activity on the island.

Weather is still an obstacle

“The search for the missing man has not been terminated. We have been unable to carry out search activities since 15 January due to poor weather,” a police statement reads.

An extensive search operation consisting of helicopters, rescue ships, police and locals, was launched on 11 January, but four days later the operation was temporarily called off.

Some spots in Fugloy have been inaccessible due to poor weather, and the police say they will start searching in these places as soon as the weather improves.
