The Chief Veterinary Officer of the Faroe Islands has received no reports of a mysterious dog disease which had led to the death of numerous dogs in Norway.

Some 173 sick or dead dogs with bloody diarrhea as symptoms have been registered across Norway in recent weeks.

The cause of the unknown dog disease has not yet been found, and it is unclear whether it can spread to humans.

Although no cases of the disease have yet been reported here, travellers who bring dogs to the Faroes are urged to show extra care. Recommendations for dog owners can be found here (in Faroese only).
