22.03.2018 - 16:04

Bjarni Hammer, MP for Javnaðarflokkurin (the Social Democratic Party), resumed his seat in Parliament today, reports Norðlýsið.

He took a leave of absence because the police were looking into a case brought up against him.

The police investigation was terminated, and the public prosecutor informed Mr Hammer that there was no evidence of any culpable activity.

Prime Minister Aksel V. Johannesen, who advised Mr Hammer to take a leave of absence while the investigation was being carried out, said that there was no reason for Mr Hammer not to resume his Parliament duties.

“I have decided to return to work in Parliament and I am looking forward to it,” Mr Hammer told Norðlýsið.
