Glasir contractor responds to criticism

Landsverk is denying claims that unpaid bills for the Glasir project are floating around in its offices and adds that no-one in the current management group was part of the building project.
In a statement issued yesterday, Landsverk says that the current management and all staff are in distress over the troubles surrounding the Glasir project.
“All staff members who have been associated with this project have done their very best to deliver the project on time. The financial difficulties towards the end of the project are just something we need to learn from, and we will continue to do all we can to rectify the problems,” the statement reads.
The Glasir contractor adds that in big projects such as this one there can be complications with settling bills. The reason that some of the bills are still unpaid is due to disagreements between contractor and subcontractors regarding services provided.
“The current management is working flat out to gain an overview of the financial part of this project and to balance the books. And we are negotiating with subcontractors regarding payment disputes.”
Landsverk’s interim CEO, Árant Andriasson, said on Tuesday that all bills have now been registered in the public payment system.
There may, however, be further bills, which the current management is unaware of.
The statement ends with:
“Nobody in the current management group has been directly involved with this project, which is why it is taking longer than it should to understand the financial complications.”
