After almost a month with the Prime Minister acting as culture minister, the political negotiations have finally reached a conclusion.

For the short remainder of this Parliamentary sitting, which ends on 1 September, there will be two culture ministers:

Høgni Hoydal, leader of Tjóðveldi (the Republican Party), who will also continue in his role as the Minister of Fisheries, and Hanna Jensen, MP for Framsókn (the Progress Party).

Hoydal will oversee culture, sports, media, church matters, arts and museums. Jensen, who has up to now headed the Parliamentary Culture Committee, will preside over education.

Prime Minister Aksel V. Johannesen took over as the acting culture minister when Rigmor Dam resigned on 21 January as a result of the Glasir building scandal.
