A 50-year-old man has been jailed for threatening police officers in Tórshavn.

He has been in custody since the incident occurred on 30 May, and the Court of the Faroe Islands ruled that the sentence will commence immediately.

The man pleads innocent to the charge and is considering appealing the sentence to a higher court.

Road closed

He was arrested on the morning of 30 May after police were called to intervene in a domestic violence incident on J. C. Svabosgøta in Tórshavn.

A short stretch of the road was closed for two hours while police officers investigated the incident.

It was during this investigation that the threats occurred.
