A young man was rushed to hospital after taking too many MDMA pills at this weekend’s G! festival in Gøta.

A man called the police on Friday night saying that his friend was feeling unwell after taking MDMA.

First-aiders and a doctor attended to the man, and they soon decided to rush him to the National Hospital in Tórshavn.

According to the police, the man was in a poor condition when he arrived at the hospital, but he improved soon after receiving treatment.

A growing problem

This incident prompted police officers to start looking for hard drugs at the music festival. They did not manage to find any.

Dávur Magnussen, a member of the police’s drug squad, says that MDMA use is on an increase in the Faroes.

The substance, which is categorised as a class A drug, has recently been seized numerous times in customs and in the nightlife, he says.
