M/S Prince will start its replacement service on the Suðuroy route on 18 September when Smyril will dock in Denmark for scheduled maintenance work.

The replacement service timetable is in accordance with international law on merchant ship crews and is slightly different to Smyril’s regular timetable.

Prince will only be doing two daily trips between Tórshavn and Tvøroyri. One of the reasons for this is that Prince is a significantly larger vessel than Smyril, which means it may spend more time on docking and departing.

The replacement timetable, available here, will be assessed after the first week of service. National transport company Strandfaraskip Landsins is aiming to have Smyril back in regular service on 12 October.
