No clear completion date for tunnel access road

The government has not yet had talks with Tórshavn City Countil regarding the access road to and from the Tórshavn-Eysturoy subsea tunnel.

So said finance minister Jørgen Niclasen in his reply to MP Heðin Mortensen, who enquired about the access road on the Tórshavn side of the tunnel.

Niclasen said that the government is currently working on prioritising funds within a long-term investment framework and that the government’s responsibilities in this regard fall within this long-term framework.

“The plan is to complete the access road in stages determined by traffic volume,” he said. “This makes it difficult to set a fixed completion date for the overall project.”
