Extensive repairs after tanker hits harbour wall

A preliminary estimate says that repairs to the Drelnes quay following last Friday’s crash will cost DKK 3 million.
The Maltese shipping company has provided security for the repair costs.
It was last Friday night that 124-metre long tanker Med Adriatic, registered in Malta, made contact with the harbour wall in Tvøroyri.
Liability accepted
The ship was almost unharmed, but the harbour wall received major damage.
Med Adriatic arrived in Tvøroyri to deliver oil and left on Saturday morning after the shipping company had provided security for the DKK 3m repair works.
Police boarded the ship after the incident, but all formal requirements were found to be satisfactory.
