Airport lays off 20 staff members

Vágar Airport has dismissed 20 staff members.

This is a necessary step due to the drastic reduction in airport activity caused by the corona crisis, writes CEO Regin I. Jacobsen in a press release.

The layoffs include both administrative and operational staff.

Vágar Airport’s management has prioritised staff deemed essential for meeting official requirements and for the continued responsible operation of the company until the aviation industry gets back on its feet.

“This has been an incredibly tough decision, and we hope we will be able to offer our laid-off staff members their jobs again as soon as possible when things return to normal,” says Jacobsen.
