When Russian trawler Yantarnyy arrived in Kollafjørður, Faroese authorities were told that two crew members displayed Covid-19 symptoms.

This led to the entire crew of 77 being tested yesterday, and 29 of them tested positive, reports corona.fo.

The crew have been banned from leaving the ship.

The two crew members who displayed Covid-19 symptoms are currently receiving treatment in a Faroese hospital.

Yantarnyy was one of the foreign ships docking near Klaksvík in July next to two other foreign ships with Covid-infected crews. The Yantarnyy crew were offered to get tested at the time, but this offer was declined.

The Faroese crisis committee is meeting today to discuss the situation.
