Faroese resident tests Covid positive at airport

Contact tracing has started after a Faroese resident tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday and was put into quarantine.
This is the first domestic Covid case since Friday 21 August.
The total number of active Covid cases in the Faroes is currently 33, including 29 crew members on board Russian trawler Yantarnyy, currently docking at the port of Kollafjørður. None of the sailors have left the ship, according to the chief medical officer.
Two people are undergoing Covid-19 treatment at the National Hospital. None are in intensive care.
Six months since first positive test
Six months have now passed since the first positive Covid test was registered in the Faroe Islands.
On 3 March, a man from Hoyvík, who had returned from a trip to Paris, was confirmed as the first Covid case in the country.
