Update on icy road conditions

At 4am this morning, police reminded drivers to be extra wary of black ice on the Gøtueiði road between the roundabout near Skipanes and Syðrugøta, Eysturoy.

An hour later, road authority Landsverk announced that roads in the following parts of the country are also likely to be slippery:

Eysturoy: Gjáarskarður (the road to Funningur and Gjáar), Gøtueiði, Kambsdalur, the Norðskála tunnel and Runavík.

Streymoy: Kaldbaksbotnur, Kollafjørður, Sund and Oyggjarvegurin.

Vágar: Vatnsoyrar (near the airport) and Sandavágshálsur (between the tunnel and Sandavágur).

Norðoyggjar: Klaksvík.

Sandoy: Brekkan stóra (the road west from Sandur).

Other roads may also be slippery.
