Although the Faroes have once more managed to fight off the coronavirus, it is unlikely that the epidemic commission will suggest easing the current restrictions at this point.

“According to the medical experts in the epidemic commission, it is not advisable to further ease our restrictions until we see a significant drop in the international Covid-19 infection rates,” says police chief Michael Boolsen, who heads the epidemic commission.

“The situation here in the Faroe Islands is looking good, but our borders are open and there is also a certain degree of uncertainty regarding post-vaccination infection risks.”

No new Covid cases were registered yesterday, which means there are still no active cases in the country.
