All over-16s now eligible for vaccines

The national vaccination programme has now been extended to include people aged 16-44, reports

The registration site is currently only available in Faroese. Those requiring assistance with filling in the forms can call 304545 on weekdays 2pm - 4pm. Questions can also be directed to the Corona hotline (304040), open Mondays-Thursdays 10am-3pm.

People aged 45 and above are still welcome to register for vaccines.

People in risk groups will be prioritised. A list of risk groups is available here (in Faroese and Danish).

High demand is expected over the coming weeks, and the health authorities advise people to be patient. According to the vaccination programme, everyone aged 16 or over who wishes to be vaccinated will have received their second shot by early September.

Two new Covid cases

Two new Covid cases were registered yesterday. One person tested positive on arrival from abroad, while the other’s source of infection has yet to be identified.

There are currently 45 active Covid-19 cases in the country. No-one is receiving hospital treatment for Covid-19, and 395 people are currently listed as being in quarantine.

The daily numbers of positive tests over the past week have been as follows: 4, 6, 5, 6, 0, 3 and 2.

According to the latest vaccination figures on, updated on Saturday, 20,712 people (38.9 percent of the population) have received the first shot of the vaccine, while 11,881 (22.3 percent) have received the second shot.

Revised testing schedule in Tórshavn

Due to increased demand for testing, the test centre at Tórshavn’s ferry terminal will now be open daily. The testing schedules in Klaksvík and Suðuroy are unchanged.

The revised schedule in Tórshavn is as follows:

Mondays: 5pm-6pm

Tuesdays: 8pm-9pm

Wednesdays: 5pm-6pm

Thursdays: 10am-11am

Fridays: 7.30pm-8.30pm

Saturdays: 4.30pm-5.30pm

Sundays: 2pm-4pm.
