Faroese financial institutions will be switching over to a new online banking system early next year.
Once the system is up and running, online banking customers can sign in through the new personal identification system (Samleikin), and the Danish NemID login system will be phased out.
Samleikin was officially launched in October 2020, and the plan was to incorporate online banking services into the new system early this year.
Árni Ellefsen, chairman of the Faroese association of financial institutions, said earlier this year that the delay was predominantly due to legal complications.
