Two new Covid-related fatalities
One Covid-related fatality was registered on Monday. This person was hospitalised.
Another Covid-related death was registered on Wednesday, and this person was not hospitalised, according to chief medical officer Lars Fodgaard Møller.
Testing centres under immense pressure
Thousands of people are getting tested every day, and this is placing a great strain on testing sites across the country.
The Hospital Service yesterday issued a press release requesting that only people who are experiencing Covid-19 symptoms should register for testing during this busy period.
Mask mandate on city buses
Tórshavn City Council has reinstated its mask mandate on its city buses, valid for the next two weeks or until further notice.
Public transport passengers across the country are urged to practice social distancing at all times, and people who have recently arrived from abroad are additionally asked to wear face masks on buses and ferries.
111 new Covid cases
Yesterday’s 4,233 Covid tests resulted in a record-high 111 positive results, bringing the number of active cases in the country up to 773.
Nine people are currently receiving hospital treatment for Covid-19.
The daily numbers of positive tests over the past week have been as follows: 81, 71, 63, 67, 76, 85 and 111.
