Mayor: too late to change Argir church location

The car park may be moved, and the new church location may be moved a few metres up the hill towards Støðlagøta.

Other than that, the planned location will remain unchanged.

This was the conclusion of yesterday’s meeting between the Argir church council, Tórshavn City Council and the architects, following protests from residents.

Too late to change

Mayor Heðin Mortensen said that the church council has been working on the project for many years and has been granted a final building permit, making it difficult to change the location at this point.

He added that the protests were to a large extent related to the location of the church car park, and that some adjustments could be made there.
