New finance minister appointed

The Prime Minister today appointed Uni Rasmussen as finance minister, one week after Jørgen Niclasen’s resignation.
Rasmussen, who lives in Norðagøta, received 465 personal votes in the general election, ranking seventh on the Fólkaflokkurin list.
During his first term as an MP, he has served as the chairman of the welfare committee and the parliamentary audit committee.

Rasmussen will be replaced in Parliament by Heðin Zachariassen, who relinquished his parliamentary seat in December.
Today’s appointment completes Fólkaflokkurin’s minister reshuffle. The party’s other two new ministers were appointed last month.
Common to all three, in addition to them all being male, is that they are relatively inexperienced in politics.
