Population grew by 730 in the past year

The Faroese population continues to grow.

On 1 March 2022, the total population was 53,792, an increase of 730 (1.4 percent) on 1 March 2021.

This increase is slightly lower than in the previous 12-month period, which saw a 1.5-percent increase, according to Statistics Faroe Islands.

The net migration figure (the difference of immigrants over emigrants) from 1 March 2021 to 1 March 2022 was 514.

The excess of births (the difference of live births over deaths) over this period was 216, with an average monthly number of live births at 55 and an average monthly number of deaths at 35.
