Multiple car crash in Gøta

A multiple collision involving four cars occurred on the road above Syðrugøta, Eysturoy, on Saturday.
The first car braked suddenly, and as the cars behind were not keeping a safe distance, it resulted in a four-car pile-up.
These drivers are facing a fine for not keeping the so-called ‘three second rule’, which is a way to ensure an adequate following distance from the vehicle ahead. Allowing a three-second distance to the car gives a driver time and distance to respond to problems ahead.
No persons were harmed in the accident.
Quiet weekend
Apart from this incident, Saturday was a quiet day for the police.
In Tórshavn, a few people were fined for breach of the peace.
And in Klaksvík, police helped a drunken man, who had fallen asleep outside, to the hospital. The man’s body temperature had fallen to 34 degrees when he arrived at the hospital.
