The 36-year-old man involved in a shooting incident in Miðvágur in December first had his detention extended by 27 days, and now it has been further extended to 2 March.

He is charged with attempted murder of a police officer on patrol as well as intending to cause grievous bodily harm to the officer.

The charges relate to an incident in Miðvágur on 9 December in which a shooting exchange broke out after reports of a man threatening to take his own life with a shotgun.

The first extension of the man’s detention took place on 8 January in the Copenhagen City Court, as he was hospitalised in the Danish capital due to injuries relating to the shooting incident.

The defendant denies all charges against him and, according to his defence lawyer, he declines answering any questions because he claims to have no recollection of the shooting incident.
