All MPs to undergo Covid testing

The week leading up to the Parliament’s Christmas break is usually a busy time, with up to 40 MPs and ministers expected to attend meetings in the Parliamentary assembly hall.

“We are not aware of any MP having contracted Covid-19, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry. So we have decided that all MPs should get tested,” says Jógvan á Lakjuni, the speaker of Parliament.

The politicians will undergo testing today, with follow-up tests to be taken next week.

The Parliament’s Christmas recess is scheduled to begin on Friday 18 December.
