Fewer daycare workers per child in Tórshavn

The number of children per daycare worker in Tórshavn is on the rise.

There are currently 8.21 children for each full-time staff member, i.e. pedagogues, care assistants and daycare managers.

Last year, this figure was 7.67, and back in 2017 it was 6.81.

The Pedagogue Union, which has compiled the figures, argues that the increasing figures highlight the need for a legal framework for staffing ratios in daycare centres, including clear provisions on the administration of appropriations for daycare centres.
