The number of motor vehicles has more than doubled since 2000, but accidents are down by two-thirds

In 2000, there were about 19,000 motor vehicles. Today, there are more than 40,000, reports Statistics Faroe Islands.
Despite a steady increase in cars on the roads, the number of traffic accidents has dropped significantly, going from an annual average of 1,200-1,300 in the early 2000s to 410 last year.
There are also far fewer accidents with personal injuries, and the number of drink-driving cases has also gone down in recent years.
