Seventy-three new Covid cases
Most of those who tested positive in the past two weeks were children aged below 11

Yesterday’s 2,434 Covid tests resulted in 73 positive outcomes, reports corona.fo.

All have been notified by the health authorities and contact tracing is underway.

The results of gene sequencing to determine whether the new Omicron variant is present in any of the positive tests will be available tomorrow, says the chief medical officer.

The daily numbers of positive tests over the past week have been as follows: 53, 39, 32, 63, 34, 48 and 73.

There are currently 460 active Covid cases in the country. Two Covid patients are in hospital, and a total of 13 Covid-related fatalities have been registered since the outbreak of the pandemic.

According to the latest vaccination figures on corona.fo, updated today, 92.1 percent of the 12+ population have received the first shot of the vaccine, 88.4 percent have received the second shot and 12.9 percent have received a third booster shot.
