A rescue package that compensates for artists’ lost income and helps keep artistic creation alive.

This is the essence of a plea to government from artists’ union LISA in the wake of the new Covid restrictions, which have caused mass cancellations for performing artists, leaving them with big income losses.

“Artists are used to down periods, but many of them have now reached the limit,” says LISA chairwoman Marita Dalsgaard.

Last week’s revised Covid restrictions limit the number of people allowed to gather at events to 100 where corona passes are required for entry and 20 for events with no such requirement.

“Artists such as musicians and actors are seeing big chunks of their income dwindling away these days,” says musician Niclas Johannesen.

“In a modern welfare state, it would only be fair to expect some support in situations like these.”

Dalsgaard says that culture minister Jenis av Rana has passed on LISA’s proposal to the government.

“The minister acted immediately, so now we’re hoping to see similarly prompt action from the government,” she says.
