About 700 new Covid cases
There are no immediate plans for tighter restrictions

Although the number of positive Covid tests almost doubled from Sunday to yesterday, tighter restrictions are not currently on the cards.

The final figures from yesterday’s testing are not yet available, but the total number of positive tests is about 700, confirms chief medical officer Lars Fodgaard Møller.

The key reason for this high number is that almost 5,000 tests were conducted yesterday, which is almost twice as many as on Sunday.

Another reason, says Møller, is the high number of active Covid cases combined with the recent easing of the quarantine guidelines.

“There is currently a high risk of infection, and I would urge everyone to be extra cautious.”

The daily numbers of positive tests over the past week have been as follows: 269, 380, 390, 413, 408, 415 and approx. 700.

The latest figures on corona.fo, which do not include yesterday’s positive test results, showed 2,654 active Covid cases. Seven people were hospitalised in Covid wards.
