In the early hours of this morning, SAS and the pilot unions reached a new five-year deal to end the strike that started on 4 July.

Normal operations will resume as soon as possible, and the first Faroe-bound SAS flight since 4 July landed in Vágar Airport around noon today.

SAS had to lay off about half of its pilots at the outbreak of the Covid pandemic.

An agreement was made at the time that these pilots would be rehired once normal operations resumed.

But disagreements arose when the airline decided to hire new pilots at its subsidiary airlines, SAS Link and SAS Connect.

The 15-day strike has cost SAS more than DKK 1 billion so far. About 3,700 flights have been cancelled since the strike began, impacting some 380,000 passengers.
